The Claw Of Life – Short Film

Great art pieces are the ones that not only seduce catch your eye and throw flares towards you but also teach you and change you from the inside. To create the great art piece, every element of it has to enrich and contribute to its idea. Here at FD, we are eager to provide the space that would aid your great art pieces tell the best story possible. So was the case with filming “The Claw Of Life” short film in our Pro Stage I. So what is the movie about?

This short film is a visual metaphor of the frustrating struggle to reconnect with one’s inner child. It’s a moment in time. A decision to pause and take a step outside oneself for a simple, honest connection. This roughly two minute story takes place in a mysterious, nearly empty room with one little girl and a vintage toy claw machine. The story relies less on plot based actions, than it does on the human experience; those fleeting moments that can last longer than what appears on the surface.

The WRITER and DIRECTOR for the movie, Melissa Cripe, sure has many talents. Besides the film production she also does styling, creating and composing and can be reached via her INSTAGRAM or WEBSITE. The rest of the crew/co-creators of this movie could be found on IndieGoGo campaign page dedicated for fundraising of the film production that ended back in July.

Pro Stage I was used for this session. This is the only stage that has an access to a fire escape stairway that is available for your creative needs. It also holds a large seamless white cyc wall, as well as standard photo backdrops and studio lighting for stills, which are the essentials for the professional studio project. Fashion Shoot with Samuel Hernandez

Sometimes all you need is just one perfect shot. No variations would stand near. No time is waisted in preparation. And each minute of the professional effort is engraved on it. That is what Samuel Hernandez, empowered by a team of industry pros, came for in our stage F … and fulfilled. The PHOTOGRAPHER, Samuel Hernandez has a very short yet concise description of his professional endeavor:

StageF was used for this team’s creative session. The studio is the smallest space we currently offer for our clients. Yet it is one of the most brightest stages with the tremendous amount of natural light coming from North West. It has gained a nickname – “light box” by some of our regulars and it truly fulfills it at any time of the day from dawn until dusk. This studio also features two section laminate floor of white and dark color for your creative needs. Helen Of Joy + Dee T.

Roses are red. And roses are white. Art 3 has it all, ornamented inside. An actress, dancer, model, artist & writer, Helen Kelly Davis with a photographer Dee T. visited us in this unique and one of most popular stages to bring series of some picturesque and enticing shots. Here is a transcript for Helen’s latest biography details:

“Born on February 28th, 1987, Helen was raised in the historical Georgian city of Bath located in Somerset, England. She has spent half her life there & the other half in the beautiful city of Kelowna in British Columbia, Canada. Helen has been modeling & dancing since the age of 6, with experience with companies such as Barbie, MAC Cosmetics & Coca Cola. She has performed for major music festivals & artists over the years. Her acting career really took off once she moved to Vancouver in 2011. She then relocated to Toronto in 2012 to gain more experience & it was shortly after she landed the lead role of Maestro Fresh Wes’s wife in his video for his comeback project. Helen also plays a very active role in the hip hop industry, working alongside her husband Nicholas “Lush One” Hyams helping coordinate hip hop events, live music shows & managing artists. She has over 8 years of experience with promotion & events. She has also worked in management of fashion shows & art exhibits with experience in art curation, event coordinating & promotion for companies including Construct Canada, DMC awards, King Of The Dot & Comicon. Her ultimate goals are to become a legendary actor & entertainer. Helen wishes to use her influence for the greater good, raising awareness for underprivileged children & youth with special needs, as well as a desire to help endangered animal species & the conservation of the planet & the world’s oceans. It would be a lie to say that hosting creative sessions for celebrities and renown names is not our pride and joy. We always welcome great talents with the great hospitality and service. This time, the actress of a popular MTV show called “Awkward” Jillian Rose Reed chaperoned by the photographer Dylan Alexander visited us in the stage ART 4.

At times, there are curious debates that appear among the industry members and the question is raised – who has the most say and the most impact on the photoshoot’s final result? Is that a keen eye of the Photographer or precise brush strokes of the MUA? Maybe is it the outstanding outfit idea of the Stylist or moment’s countenance of the Model? Here at FD, we have seen the fact proven; It is the even share of each member of the crew that lifts the outcome to its best! One of these instances, the team of Dion Bagaporo, Katrina and Sophia Le in stage B were working on series of marvelous beauty shots, full of color, energy and expression.

Flash Floods (feat. Malia Civetz & Brandon Burrows) – Sangria Sky

It is either a sizable space, or sleek industrial feel, or large windows with the frosted glass and lots of sunlight that allure so many videographers and filmmakers to our stage D for the session. This time we had New Angel Production shooting a dance duo, Lauren Gonyea and Little Boy, for a music video of Sangria Sky. We are glad to share a few words about the production team behind this remarkable project:

Singer J.Lauryn at FD Photo Studio

Our studio is prominent for accommodating not only fashion and e-commerce oriented projects but also art/music focused sessions. This time it was a pleasure to have a singer J. Lauryn in our stage B for a photoshoot to support her recently released EP “Vibes and Highs“. Here is a transcript for the artist’s story:

J. Lauryn’s career first began when she moved from Hawaii to LA in 2007 to be a professional dancer and choreographer. One of her most memorable moments was dancing alongside Queen Latifah at the 2011 People’s Choice Awards, however it wasn’t long before she wanted to step out from the shadows, steal the microphone and take over the show. “I always had a strong passion for music and writing since I was a kid,” J. says. “It was only a matter of time before I realized I needed to follow my heart and focus on music”. As well as starting to create on her own music J. has honed her phenomenal talents by working on forthcoming tracks by RnB singer Ashanti, Roc Nation’s Vic Mensa and K-pop superstar, CL. J reveals, “Vic would call me up to the studio and just say “go in the booth and do your thang. CL was really fun to write with, we wrote a few really vibey songs”. Last year she also provided guest vocals on fellow Cali band The Johnsons’ reggae tinged track. ‘Kick It’. Whether J’s working hard in the studio, chilling out with her dog Samson Dubie or filming freestyles for her Instagram armed only with a ukulele her ambition remains the same: “spread good vibes, good messages, and positivity”.
