The stage:

Studio Hill 5 is one of the best option we have for creative crews on the budget. This Romantic White Stage has its windows facing South, which provides plenty of natural light for photographers. Among studio’s unique props are Gold Bellman Cart, White Decor Frames Wall, “Victoria Secret” like pink striped wall section and a pink upright piano. About this location:

StageF was used for this team’s creative session. The studio is the smallest space we currently offer for our clients. Yet it is one of the most brightest stages with the tremendous amount of natural light coming from North West. It has gained a nickname – “light box” by some of our regulars and it truly fulfills it at any time of the day from dawn until dusk. This studio also features two section laminate floor of white and dark color for your creative needs. As with any of our stages, Studio F comes with 3 strobe lights already included in the hourly rate and backdrop seamless paper installed. Take a closer look HERE.

Stunning imagery by Anna Fischer empowered by the A team of PROs was captured in our New York Studio 1. With help of white reflective floor, photos came out really bright, light but still very energetic.

At the location:

NY Studio 1 known as “White Floor” studio has a few distinct features you will not find in any other stages. Facing the west side this stage gets lots of natural light in the afternoon and has amazing lighting conditions during the golden hour. Among included props are industrial white platform. And the bed. The bed that comes with clean sheets (fees apply) and photogenic look, ready for always anticipated, the “bed scene” Besides, Studio 1 comes equipped with black, white and grey backdrops already installed and three strobe lights included in the hourly rate. Naomi Yura’s Tri-Model Shoot

Naomi Yura is a fashion photographer based in LA! Naomi’s recent visit to our Art studios has brought not one but three different characters to life through crew’s amazing pictures, thanks to Muses @aixajahara, @elizabethdeo and @v.nanc.

About the stage:

Stage Art 1, a long-time FD Photo Studio favorite, was used for this shoot. With the high-key white industrial design that FD is notorious for, Stage Art 1 is a clean setting that can be manipulated to fit all kinds of projects. This space has its windows facing South and West and gets beautiful direct light during the PM hours, and great open-shaded light in the morning. Jessabelle Thunder And Dany Lofgren In Pro I

Model Jessabelle Thunder is an accomplished burlesque performer and published pinup model. This is LA native has been entrancing and entertaining audiences all over the globe since 2009. Currently, a cast member of Tease If You Please (IG: @teaseifyouplease), she’s performed with Dita Von Teese and can be seen in many shows all over Los Angeles.

Pro Stage I has undergone a recent update and now features a Old Glory Red Wall with Silver Fainting Couch. Studio Lighting 102 : Portrait Photography Lighting

Where and when?

FD Hill Studios (FD Photo Studio Hill Location), July 3rd, 2019, 7pm – 9pm.

What?

In this one, Toma will explain the patterns of the face, the separation from the background, distance and color tricks, planes of lighting, etc. One lovely professional model will be there to assist her demonstration and your practice! This beginner class is open to any level, from professionals who could use a refresher to new photographers working on their skills. 📸 Don’t forget to bring your camera!

Toma Kostygina

With thousands of hours spent on sets and at photo studios, Toma has gained experience in everything that you need to start working with studio lights. She has been always inspired by photography masters and artists so she’s decided to take it to the next level. While attending Photo classes at Santa Monica college, she has mastered creation of custom sets and thorough production. From assisting on sets such as for Coca-Cola, Italian Vogue, GQ, Interview magazines and Benefit cosmetics she is now working with A-list photographers and magazines. Toma is always in search of improvement her skills and creativity. You will find her work bright and colorful with some concept behind like for Grammy-nominated Sofi Tukker or David Bowie Tribute.

Become Better Photographer: Camera Bag Essentials with David Bergman

Today’s episode is dedicated to planning for the worst possible shoot location that you as a photographer might encounter. With photographer David Bergman and Adorama TV we will explore what essentials you must have in your camera bag at all times. And we are not talking about obvious things like cameras, lenses, charges and batteries – those go in your bag without saying. Mr. Bergman will share a few little perks you might have forgotten to take:

“The first one is earplugs. Even if you don’t shoot a lot of concerts like I do you might find yourself shooting in a factory or some other loud environment, and hearing protection will be vitally important.”

“The next thing is a tiny screwdriver. You can pick these up in almost any drugstore because they’re made for fixing glasses but they happen to be the same exact size as those little screws inside most camera lens mounts. You never know when you’ll need to do a little quick tightening job!”

“You should also throw a Sharpie in your bag. It never hurts to have a marker with you to write with but as an added bonus you can wrap some gaffers tape around it. There are a lot of uses for gaffers tape, and I addressed it in another episode.”

“Make sure you have a blower and a cleaning cloth with you these are great for quick cleanups when you’re on location.”

“I also like to throw a small bungee cord in my bag. It’s good when I need to strap a tripod to the side of a roller but also if I want to hang my camera bag from a railing, if the ground is really wet or dirty.”

“I also like to throw a small flashlight in my bag. I know all of our phones have flashlights now but it’s nice to have a separate one, so it doesn’t drain my phone battery when I need it. Not only will the flashlights help you see in the dark but you can use it in a pinch to help focus on your subjects or even light them up when you need to.”

“It’s a good idea to keep a small sandwich bag and a large garbage bag with you as well. These are waterproof, and if you get caught in the rain, you can always put your camera inside the small bag and your entire camera bag inside the large garbage bag to keep everything dry.”

“Of course this isn’t a complete list, and there are some more obvious things you should always have with you like business cards, a phone charger. extra batteries and memory cards. first-aid supplies. mints and some cash, etc. Hopefully you’ll never need any of those things but you’ll have peace of mind knowing you have them and can handle any situation.”
