One of our regulars and favorite clients, photographer Emily Acosta has visited stage Art 1 for the shoot of new clothing line, available to purchase at Frankie Phoenix online boutique. With simple creative approach to capture natural looks of the models Emily delivered series of great photos that inspire, entertain and sell. We had a pleasure to do a quick interview with Emily Acosta about her experience of shooting in our studio:

“FD – How was the shoot for you? Emily – The shoot was great, it always does at the studio because of the best natural light. FD – How did you like the studio? Stage Art 1 was a choice of location for this session. Adorned with features like white grand piano and three step podium this stage is a tool of versatility, provider of great natural light, benchmark of industrial Downtown minimalistic design. This space has its windows facing South and West and gets beautiful direct light during the PM hours, and great open-shaded light in the morning. Using strobes? No worries, we include 3 strobe lights in the hourly rate along with black, white and grey background available. Tanya Mityushina in FD

Updated June 2023 Step into our daylight photo studio for rent Art 2 in Downtown Los Angeles. With its large windows and stunning wooden floors, this studio creates a mesmerizing setting for your photo shoot. As the sunlight streams through the windows, it dances upon Tanya Mityushina, a radiant and captivating model, while photographer Anna Gunselman artfully captures her beauty and grace. The interplay between the natural light, the polished wooden floor, and Tanya’s talent produce breathtaking photographs. The Sports Illustrated star, Tanya Mityushina directed by Anna Gunselman has beautified our stage Art 2 with her flawless, luxurious looks.

Stage B features all black walls and ceiling, with capabilities to completely shut off the natural window light. These eyes. These amazing extraordinary eyes. What is known is the scientific field as central heterochromia for us is just a God’s miracle and gift of exotic beauty. Model Tyrie Rudolph, the possessor of this miracle has visited us in stage Art 1 with guidance of Maximilian Rivera and Roderick Hawthorne.

Zofia & Zuzanna

Photographer Zuzanna Gerulewicz has brought her sister along with MUA, Lee Grubs to play a bit with some glitter make-up, materials and fog. What turned out to be is a fun and productive time! Zuzanna’s story is an adventure itself:

“As a European Native, I had been exposed to a slightly different culture than the one of United States. Born & raised in Warsaw, Poland, the land of rain and pickles, I spent my first 2 decades surrounded by old bricks, cold weather and best pierogi the world have ever tasted. Eventually, fueled by the need of change, I landed in California to pursue my education in photography. What interests me most are people and extraordinary mediocrity. In art, I value creativity, composition, mood and style. I strive for exploration of these aspects and their strong stand on my set. Photography was a reason for me to leave my motherland environment and I truly needed this change to come to realize how strong my roots, and my ethnical background really are. Ironically, the style of my work derives from that of my heritage which I left behind few years ago. I guess some things are just in your veins. My pictures are cloudy with a chance of pickles.”

Stage A is a modest sized studio, great for a nice and clean high-key look. A long time favorite of our clients, Stage A gets beautiful direct sunlight in the morning through north and east-facing windows, and beautifully soft indirect light as the day goes on. Equipped with all of the same great gear that’s included with all of our studios – strobes, light modifiers, radio trigger, and paper backdrops – it’s a wonderful place to be able to achieve different looks all in the same place. Art 2, one of our clients’ most favorite stages, features a full rustic wood floor, as well as a platform that runs the entire length of the studio’s south side – flush with the windows. There is a wood staircase leading up to the platforms left side. The flooring is real wood throughout, and stained to a nice dark tone. Art 2 also features the same great equipment that adorns all of our studios – black, white, and gray photo backdrops as well as three strobes along with light modifiers. “I had a fantastic time shooting at your location. I happened to be shooting some black/white ballet shots for a dancer, as well as some test shots for a leather/lace portrait concept to add to my own portfolio. I loved the big windows and always use natural light with my portrait work, so this was an incredible indoor location for me to work with.”

Fashion Shots by Robert Tate

Ever wondered why a photographer would use a colored backdrop, pay extra cash for it and spend more time setting it up instead of just editing it in the post? The answer is double-sided. Firstly, in many cases it actually takes more time to edit the background out in the post-production rather than have it placed already behind at the time of the shoot. Secondly, with the proper background lighting in place it is virtually impossible to imitate the play of soft shadows overlaying the backdrop with unique gradient and other subtleties. Photographer Robert Tate had a few backdrops in his arsenal. And he made a shot.

Stage C was a choice of this creative collective for several reasons. Besides a tremendous space capacity perfect for both, large crews and small teams this stage provides a white CYC wall that is always freshly painted for each client. In addition to the prop count, a grass wall and a wood floor corned section installed for your creative exploration. SVSTEM watches by Vicky Moon

We do love photography in each and any of its flavor and genre. Although Los Angeles’s trend dictates the reign of fashion and e-commerce shoots in the industry, product shoot sessions are also frequent guests in our studio. The watches design company called SVSTEM directed by Vicky Moon has visited us in stage F to capture their new collection. A quick bio of the photographer:

“Architecture holds a very strong place in my heart– I’ve always been fascinated by the intricately built exteriors and the beautifully designed interiors. With my passion for photography and love for architecture, I assure the highest caliber of professionalism and satisfaction within my imagery. I live in Los Angeles, California with my pink scooter. I travel around town with my 4×5 in my backpack so please don’t hit me with your car. I am a graduate of Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA with a B.F.A. in Photography + Imaging.”

StageF was used for this team’s creative session. The studio is the smallest space we currently offer for our clients. Yet it is one of the most brightest stages with the tremendous amount of natural light coming from North West. It has gained a nickname – “light box” by some of our regulars and it truly fulfills it at any time of the day from dawn until dusk. This studio also features two section laminate floor of white and dark color for your creative needs.
