Photographer David Martin Jr this time was the man in front of the camera. Dedicating this photo-session to promote his brand, David made each picture a story within itself that encapsulates deep thoughts of David’s favorite author Robert Greene. Linking author’s quote to each photo has brought not only visual interest to the session but also provided some food for thought. Stage Art 4 was chosen for the location of this session due to the variety of background it can provide. Besides the high-key white industrial design, it is also adorned with wooden floor section and a wall veneer as well as portable blinds, made of dark wood slats. The star of the stage, in its literal meaning, is also presented within the space, glowing across its frame. As any of our stages, Art 4 comes equipped with 3 strobe lights and modifiers as well as backdrop paper of black, white and grey color. Stage Art 1, a long-time FD Photo Studio favorite, was used for this shoot. With the high-key white industrial design that FD is notorious for, Stage Art 1 is a clean setting that can be manipulated to fit all kinds of projects. This space has its windows facing South and West and gets beautiful direct light during the PM hours, and great open-shaded light in the morning.

Joe Ward in stage Art 4

Photographer Joe Ward has visited us again in stage Art 4 for the series of natural, minimal and simply beautiful photos.

“I’m a portrait photographer from Southern California, currently based out of Seattle. I was visiting LA and was able to book a quick test shoot with one of my favorite models around sundown. We were able to capture some incredible shots around golden hour, with just one camera and one lens and one assistant! “

Fuji GFX 50S: Medium Format DIGITAL CAMERA

Last time we talked about new Sony A9 full frame camera and its advantages compare to old giants Nikon and Canon. This time we will step it up a bit towards higher pixel size and sharper images. We will go into Medium Format camera, recently release by Fujifilm – GFX 50s. Featuring large sensor, state-of-the-art imaging capabilities, the GFX 50S from Fujifilm is a highly versatile and portable medium format mirrorless camera. It has

51.4 MP SENSOR

43.8 x 32.9mm 51.4MP CMOS sensor that produces tremendously wide dynamic range and high resolution AND an extended sensitivity range of ISO 50-102400 if difficult lighting conditions occur. Due to that, one of the advantages of the Medium Format cameras compare to 35mm is the distinct three dimensional look with smooth tonal and color transitions. This is one of the reason a medium format camera was the choice of portrait photographers from 70s till 90s – the magic ofthe falloff and depth you can get, making them a natural for portraits.

Karl Smoderek + Jeff Thomas

Photographer Karl Smoderek and his team came to stage D for series of clean, warm fashion shots. Using both natural light and the strobe light Karl had two completely different ideas executed. One, with natural light, was a play of shadows and emotional, cinema like delivery. Another, with help of strobe lights, in Terry Richardson’s style flash and pop vibe.

Salems Lott – Your favorite 80’s Rock Band

We thought our stage B was dark enough to be called “blackout” but after a recent visit of the heavy metal band called Salems Lott it got even darker. Colored by gels, dramatized by heavy makeup and empowered by the dark gothic energy of musicians this photoshoot had nothing funny about it. But it was real fun! The PHOTOGRAPHER for the session was Hector Puig. Stage B features all black walls and ceiling, with capabilities to completely shut off the natural window light. A wall section with the brick veneer adds a flavor of downtown loft New York style. Auti Kamal: MODEL and CHOREOGRAPHER

Nowadays the industry demands more and more multitalented artists to showcase their versatile expression in as many ways as possible to make a hit. While some artists faint under such overwhelming pressure, others like Auti Kamal succeed. Dancer, Choreographer and just a stunning Model Auti, has visited us in stages A and D to let other dancers shine but took a bit of the spotlight herself. Here is the dance video conceptualized by Auti and performed by Lindsey Sandri and Jonah Almanzar. The PHOTOGRAPHER for the shoot was Mila Zvereva.
