Fashion for a Cause

Perspectives, a clothing and apparel company, was in the studio making some very clean images for their clothing line. The crew took full advantage of our cyclorama wall in Stage C, and their shots turned out uncluttered and sharp. Perspectives has this to say about their clothing, “Each day there is brokenness that we see but often fail to recognize. In today’s rapidly changing society, where distractions are so present, we can become blind to the darkness, pain, and injustice all around and within us. At Perspectives, we strive to shine a light on this brokenness and actively acknowledge the injustice in the world.” Their WEBSITE has more information about their mission, as well as how you can help support non-profits around the world by getting involved with their product. California based photographer Robert Meeks was behind the camera for the shoot. Take a look at his WEBSITE or INSTAGRAM to see more. The team used Stage C for their shoot. Featuring a 19ft cyc wall, lots of daylight, and the ability to be blacked out; Stage C is a fantastic, HUGE, space with lots of versatility.

CarrieLynn Lookbook

Apparel company CarrieLynn was in the studio shooting their Holiday 2014 & 2015 lookbook in Stage B. CarrieLynne is a company dedicated to creating beautiful, long lasting, multi purpose clothing. They did a great job on their lookbook, and the team had a great experience. Photographer Ryan West was the photographer on set for the day, along with photo assistant Duncan Cheng. Ryan has a great fashion portfolio, as well as has spent a lot of time in the entertainment industry and has shot some big names in music. Take a look at his WEBSITE for more information. Raul Alejandre was responsible for hair and makeup; more work of his impressive work can be viewed HERE. Sophia Mondi was the lovely model for the lookbook. Celebrity Wardrobe Stylist Ali Levine, ALD (Ali Levine Design), did they styling for the shoot. Carrie Loos, CarrieLynn Collection designer, gave us these great looks. Our recently renovated Stage B was used for this shoot. The studio has been blacked out, and offers a great place to keep unwanted light in check and be in complete control of your shoot. Mickey’s Girl Shoots at FD

Mickey’s Girl is an new upcoming e-commerce shop, and they recently were at FD Photo Studio to shoot some fashion images. s shoot included LA based photographer Chris Fitzgerald. Chris is a fashion and portrait photographer specializing in raw, intense, telling images, often with an erotic edge. Fitzgerald draws from past experiences in his exciting and colorful past to create powerful, honest and impactful images that people remember. Take a look at more of his work HERE. Lola Sun was the makeup artist for the shoot, connect with her on INSTAGRAM. The models featured here are Sam Black and Meghan Trew Mullen. Assistant Aine Tracy was also there to ensure a smooth day on set. These images were created on our (since blacked-out) Stage B, which offers a completely light controlled environment. Nearly all of our stages here at FD Photo Studio offer great natural lighting. Two popular sets with our photographers that love ambient light are Stage A and Stage C.

“Color Block” by Kat Purgal

Kat Purgal was in the studio using some bold colors to create her series entitled “Color Block.” Purgal is a Los Angeles based actor, filmmaker, and photographer. She explains: “I love photographing women – to me, they exude power and strength. Photo shoots are akin to making mini-movies — between the costumes, the make-up, and what you are trying to convey but only with a single image. For me, shooting in between acting gigs is just exercising that creative muscle. It’s all intertwined.”

Angela, also working out of LA, has a very impressive track record within the entertainment industry, and boasts some very exciting credentials. This unique new feature gives photographers full control of their studio lighting, without having to worry about ambient light or reflections off of white walls. Natural Light Shoot by Derek Hui

Seasoned photographer Derek Hui was in LA at FD Photo Studio just before we rang in the new year making these dazzling images of stunning model Antoinette Amor, with hair and makeup provided by Timothy Willy. The entire shoot was done in Studio A, making great use of the natural light available! The shoot was done as a creative test, and yielded some mesmerizing results. Derek is a destination wedding and fashion photographer based out of Toronto, Canada. He takes great pride in his work, and is often en-route to different destinations to make great pictures for his clients.

Derek was able to use Stage A to it’s full natural light potential in this shoot. Stage A is a day-light studio with huge north and east facing windows. Great for natural light during the day, a mixture of artificial and natural light, or full use of studio strobes after the sun has gone down. Check it out HERE!

Mike Scocozza Shot by Kara Beth Nixon

Dapper male model Mike Scocozza was in the studio in late December for a fashion shoot with photographer Kara Beth Nixon. The styling for the tops was provided by modern clothing company Grayers, and the underwear by SWAV Apparel. Mike is sponsored veteran model/athlete based in LA and a former contestant on America’s Next Top Model (Cycle 20). Scocozza had this to say about the facilities:

“I always love shooting at FD Photo Studio. Easy to work with, friendly and helpful staff, great location. Some of my favorite shots I’ve ever taken have come out of these rooms. I recommend them to everyone.”

Kara is a photographer from Southern California specializing in lifestyle photography, and her diverse portfolio includes great images from other genres and a long list of clients as well. Commercial Shoot with Bradley Wentzel

Bradley Wentzel was recently in the studio shooting with actress Kelsey McKean, and they made some brilliant photos. Utilizing the facility to it’s fullest, some very polished images with a nice professional look were created both inside the studio and out in the area surrounding the premises. The team shot these photos in Pro Stage I, a huge studio with large, north-facing, windows.
