At the location:

Stage Hill 2 is one of our latest additions and the second blackout stage we currently offer. Painted all black from top to bottom with the matte color this stage absorbs the light making it easier to control reflections and have complete control of the light painting. Spacious, nicely conditioned and minimalistic, Hill 2 is perfect for video and photo shoots, big or small crew. This beauty in freckles – model Sascha Jenelle captured by talented Kevy Yang, can definitely strike a mesmerizing look. Working in a dark environment against bloody red backdrop, the duo came up with catchy, dramatic shots.

Marvelous Asanas In NYC Studio 7

Photographer Renee Choi took full advantage of awesome interior themes in NYC studio 7, while capturing 3 yoga teachers showing amazing postures and poses.

About the shoot:

“This particular shoot was just for fun – with no attachment to outcome, just play. All three women featured are NYC-based yoga teachers. They all vary in their strengths and where they are flexible, so it is fun for all of us to see what kind of shapes we can make for my camera. This shoot was in Studio 7, and we had a great time using the tile, loft windows and back wall. ”

Working with both natural and strobe light, photographer Maureen Eggleton captured a variety of nice portraits – from smooth and soft b&w shots to vivid colorful images with nice punch and pop.

About photographer and this project:

“My name is Maureen Eggleton. I am a fashion, portrait and fine art photographer. My passion is to bring my clients as well as personal creative concepts to life! This is a personal project in which I wanted to portrait the Italian feminity. My vision was to have the model wearing a romantic outfit and real flowers in the hair, contrasting with a splash of color in the background. I thought that the perfect model for my vision would be the actress Lauren Mungo (best known for American horror story and Die young) who has an Italian background. She is not only beautiful but super professional, loved working with her. With her and with the help of my wonderful crew of MUA and Hair Stylist, we brought the concept to reality.”

He took up street photography which soon developed into portraits and fashion photography. Juan has been published in newspapers, blogs and has been featured in several occasions by JPG Magazine. In 2015, Juan had his first exhibition in The Country Club in Cali, Colombia.”

Dan Lai’s Choreography Team

By providing plenty of creative space to move around as graciously as choreographer and NYC teacher Dan Lai and his team, we are happy to see these fun shots!

Few words about the choreographer:

“Dan Lai is a choreographer and teacher in NYC. His unique dance style consists of multiple genres that include hip hop, contemporary and jazz. He fuses them together, creating movements that are strong, sharp and clean. The particular video he shot was a choreography done in heels showcasing the strength, the class and the importance of a woman. It was danced by Olivia Batittisa, Julia Alaimo and Addie Heck. The video was shot by Jayna Photography.”

Making the best out of unknown location requires a theory and practice for every photographer. In today’s lesson with David Bergman and AdoramaTV we hope to cover the theory grounds for you first!

Mr. Bergman shares “Today I’m doing a magazine shoot with Ben and Briana otherwise known as the band ‘Tigers Jaw’. Sometimes I’ll have a gig like this where it’s just us, without any art directors and photo editors on site, and it’s up to me to make something interesting. The first thing I do is scout the location and try to find an area that gives me enough room to work, but offers a unique look and texture for the portrait.”

“I also want to make the shoot as convenient as possible for the band, while still giving my client some different options, so they can choose what will work best in the magazine layout.”

“In this case, I’ll use this location for the wide shot, and I put a pedestal right in front of this red curtain, and it looks pretty cool in the venue. I’ll shoot wide to show the whole space with the two of them together. “

“But then after I get that, by simply moving them closer in the same space, I can shoot some tight faces. These images don’t give any sense of the location and are a bit more timeless. It’s a completely different look that doesn’t take much time at all. This way I can keep everyone happy. “

“My editors get multiple images and can pick the ones they like the best. I get a few completely different frames for future licensing in my archives and the band can go get ready to take the stage for tonight’s show. It’s a win all the way around. “

Family Tandem Art At Art 1!

Stage Art 1, a long-time FD Photo Studio favorite, was used for this shoot. With the high-key white industrial design that FD is notorious for, Stage Art 1 is a clean setting that can be manipulated to fit all kinds of projects. This space has its windows facing South and West and gets beautiful direct light during the PM hours, and great open-shaded light in the morning.
