About the stage:

Stage Art 4, used for this shoot, is notorious for the high-key white industrial design. It has also been recently adorned with wooden floor section and a wall veneer as well as portable blinds, made of dark wood slats. The latest upgrade the stage received was a nice looking cozy egg like chair and a STAR illuminating across its shape! As any of our stages, Art 4 comes equipped with 3 strobe lights and modifiers as well as backdrop paper of black, white and grey color. Art 2, is one of the busiest stages we currently offer. Equipped with everything you need for a perfect intimate, romantic or empowering style of photoshoot, this stage always leaves our clients excited and hungry for more time. Featuring a dark wood floor platform across the stage and a sexy dark leather lounge chair creates welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. A wall section with the brick veneer adds a flavor of downtown loft New York style. Yeny Ferreras’s Photoshoot

Photographer, model & visual artist, Camille A. Parmashwar-Smith is currently working on her first self-published photo-book called iLLie C. iLLie C. uses visuals with the help of other artist, both male and female photographers to illustrate different sides of her. To evoke hidden emotions and constant struggles with body image and mental sanity. Along with visuals, there will be poems to go with each image.

When Ms.Parmashwar-Smith reach out to me about her visual project I was honored to be her photographer and designer ready to work. She was going to be doing her entire visual project in film photography editorial style. I’ve always been fascinated with polaroid images and film photography because of its tangibility. When I learned about ILLie C. I thought it was a very passionate and intimate to visually tell a personal story about yourself to the world. Ms.Parmahwar-Smith and I chose to create this visuals for the photo-book at FD Photo studio due to their studio space uniqueness, and studio two antique interior design.

Yeny Ferreras is a Junior Graphic Designer and freelance Photographer. Having been born and raised in the Dominican Republic, Yeny migrated to the United States in pursuit of developing and further advancing her education in the Arts. For Yeny it all began in her childhood with fashion. She would gather fabrics and leftover clothing and create dresses for her dolls. The love for fashion and designing clothes would lead her into discovering her creative passion for graphic design and photography.

About this location:

Stage Art 3
is truly one of the pearls of our studio. Featuring thematic furniture of white and gold color and antique look that beautifully coincides with a rose wall covered completely in red and white flowers this stage brings both the uniqueness and versatility. As any of other 11 studios we provide this stage is equipped with three paper backdrops of white, black and grey color ready for your shoot. Art 3 has amazing natural lighting conditions. However, if you require the help of the strobe lights, we have 3 of them installed and included in the hourly rate, thus making it as a very flexible creative space. Justin Boyd in Hill 4

Great quality photos were submitted by a self-taught photographer Justin Boyd who had a mini tour, hopping from one stage to another in our Hill location.

About the shoot:

My name is Justin Boyd, self taught photographer from Long Beach. The crew consisted of our lovely model Brittnee Brooks, as well as my helpful assistant Matthew Nelson. We worked in studio Hill 4 looking to get some shots for Britnee’s portfolio. We shot with the neon lights first, then worked our way to the grey backdrop where Matt and I moved the bike to the center of. After that, we set up in the corner because of the natural light beaming on the yellow walls. To close the day, we lastly shot in the rain room. It was my first experience working in there and something I look forward to again.

About this location:

Stage Hill 4 is one of our largest and brightest stages. Advantageously positioned with the windows facing west and north, this stage gets plenty of sift indirect sunlight in the first half of the day and lots of direct sunbeams in the second half. Hill 4 is furnished with several comfy and photogenic couches of cream and and golden/brown leather color. Chloe Pitterson in NYC Studio 7

Chloe Pitterson is both a photographer and a model. This time she experimented with self-portraits in our NYC Studio 7. And the experiment went quite well!

About the shoot:

All images were shot and edited by me, and I am the subject. I love to do self-portrait work. In this shoot I tested out working with some fabric drapery work. I love fabric textures that are sheer and I love leather. This was my first time using the studio as a test run series and I look forward to coming back and doing more shoots!

Matt Ellis’s Couple Shoot

Working in 2 different stages with 2 beautiful human beings should be both fun and very productive. Photographer Matt Ellis had a first hand experience for this kind of shoot in our New York location.

At the location:

NY Studio 1 known as “White Floor” studio has a few distinct features you will not find in any other stages. Facing the west side this stage gets lots of natural light in the afternoon and has amazing lighting conditions during the golden hour. Among included props are industrial white platform. And the bed. The bed that comes with clean sheets (fees apply) and photogenic look, ready for always anticipated, the “bed scene” Besides, Studio 1 comes equipped with black, white and grey backdrops already installed and three strobe lights included in the hourly rate. Become Better Photographer: Using Red Filter with David Bergman

What is the red filter used for? And how can it improve your photography? Today we explore some tips from photographer David Bergman and AdoramaTV.

David shares: “When we used to shoot black and white film, you could put different colored filters like red or green, in front of your lens to make specific tones lighter or darker. The way you know what each color does is just remember that the filter will lighten its own color range, and make the opposite colors go darker because it blocks that light out. Red gels were often used for landscape images, because it made the blue sky go darker adding contrast and drama to your images.”

“Now the big question is, in the digital world would you still want to shoot with a colored filter? Well the main reason to do it is, you’ll spend a lot less time in front of the computer. If you set the camera on the monochrome pictures style, then what you see is what you get. So you can make adjustments to exposure or contrast right in the camera, and you are basically done.”

“However when you shoot in raw an convert to B & W in the computer, you can simulate the effect of a color filter with way more control. So don’t just convert your image to gray scale, use the B &W adjustment slider in Lightroom or Photoshop, or a specialized program like Silver Effects Pro, and you’ll see how each color affects your final image. “

“Change the green filter to make trees and foliage go lighter, or the red filter can darker blue sky. Also by working the computer you can change your mind later and re-process the image even in color if you want. “

Become Better Photographer: Ways to Create WORD-OF-MOUTH Marketing with Vanessa Joy

Word-of-mouth marketing is by far the best kind of marketing a business can get, for a few reasons: it is free and it works! Today we will explore Vanessa Joy’s 3 ways on mastering WOM marking.

1. Give Them Something To Talk About

According to Vanessa being “amazing” with clients should be your number one priority to start WOM marketing. What is simply means is going above and beyond for your clients, so you can give them something to talk about months and years after the service or product was sold. A very useful concept that goes along with this strategy is “underpromise – overdeliver”. So if it takes 2 weeks to process those photos, tell your clients it will take 4 weeks instead.

2. Be Surprising

Do something outside of a regular photography services that would surprise your clients. In Vanessa’s case she likes to give out gifts to her clients, which creates nice and unforgettable touch.

3. Be Convenient

Convenience is something clients love to pay for and will appreciate a lot.
