About the photographer and the shoot:

I am a portrait photographer currently based out of NYC, I’ve been doing photography for about 5 years and just recently as of last year started to take my hobby seriously, in high hopes of turning it into my own lucrative business. More than anything I enjoy the process of photographing people; it’s really allowed me to see and hear others life stories and what’s pushed them to want to be in front of a camera, allowing me to have the honor of capturing a moment in their lives that will never be the same. This shoot with Erica was shot with three concepts in mind, moodiness, sensuality and magic. We started out with this blue shear dress that created such a princess vibe and to my surprise, the studio had what looked to be a small cherry blossom tree. That tree really helped with the aesthetic that we were looking for. The next outfit for the shoot set the tone for the sensual, cozy, in studio at home feel. I shot all of these photos with the natural light coming through the industrial windows set up at Studio 5. It was my first time shooting in a studio and I can’t wait to shoot here again!

About the photographer:

My name is Eric Arteaga and I am a self taught photographer. I’m not too sure what set off my interest in photography. I just kind of picked up a camera one day and never looked back. I started out shooting a lot of cars at local racetracks and car meets until one day I realized I had no idea how to take pictures of people. I slowly started shooting with friends and people I met on Instagram and it slowly took off from there. Although it took of rather quickly, it stopped just as quick. I didn’t really shoot for about a year, but recently decided to try and take it serious. This shoot in the FD Art 4 stage was kind of my return.

For this shoot with Elvira we wanted to do something intimate, but not too sexy if there was ever such a thing. I love shooting with Elvira because she is so versatile. We quickly got the shots I was looking for but she brought so many clothes that we just kept trying different looks that we threw together from whatever she had. It seemed to work out in our favor.

About the stage:

Stage Art 4, used for this shoot, is notorious for the high-key white industrial design. It has also been recently adorned with wooden floor section and a wall veneer as well as portable blinds, made of dark wood slats. The latest upgrade the stage received was a nice looking cozy egg like chair and a STAR illuminating across its shape! As any of our stages, Art 4 comes equipped with 3 strobe lights and modifiers as well as backdrop paper of black, white and grey color. Art 2, is one of the busiest stages we currently offer. Equipped with everything you need for a perfect intimate, romantic or empowering style of photoshoot, this stage always leaves our clients excited and hungry for more time. Featuring a dark wood floor platform across the stage and a sexy dark leather lounge chair creates welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. A wall section with the brick veneer adds a flavor of downtown loft New York style. Among these unique features, the stage comes with great equipment – three strobe lights, three backdrops of white, grey and black color, sound system, makeup station and changing station. My name is Kevin Lu and I’ve recently started pursuing high end cosplay photography. I have a background in computer animation and computer graphics. One of my recent high profile projects was contributing to the CG lighting team for Disney’s Frozen 2. My photography style draws inspiration from cinema and lighting from animated movies and live action cinematographers.

I collaborated with Nikki on a KDA Kai’sa inspired cosplay photo-shoot utilizing FD studios! It was a fantastic experience. I’m in the process of building a following and cosplay photography portfolio. I hope to collaborate with unique talents in the NYC area. For this photo shoot, we utilized Yongnuo led lights with colored gels to create dramatic stylized lighting. The Sony A7iii utilized for the shoot worked well for high quality low light shooting. The blackout studio from FD studios was fantastic for creating a concert sort of atmosphere. Research, references, and fantastic location greatly contributed to the success of the shoot.
