“Appétit” Photoshoot By BLAK Socius

About the shoot:

This series – Appétit Pt. One and Appétit Pt. Two – my point of focus isn’t necessarily the beautiful women and their bodies in these photos, but more around the art and concept within each shot. In this particular series, I was focused in capturing reversed and reflected images in different elements such as, liquid in wine glasses, mirrors and water. The wine glass, the image is distorted until upon closer inspection, you’ll see the reflected image in the wine. Mirrors, you see a reversed image and in water, you see a mirrored reflection. Why boudoir? I did implied nude photos, because I wanted a raw, human, animalistic beauty, reflecting back at itself. This gave this series the name Appétit – the appetite of human desire. About the shoot:

Hello there! My name is Amber and I am the owner of Kayleen Imagery. I specialize in portrait photography. My goal for this last shoot I did was inspired by the movement Black Lives Matter. I wanted to showcase the double sided reality of blacks in America. I wanted to show how we have been treated for hundreds of years and compare that to how we may view ourselves. For example the gun violence in our community whether it be from the hands of our own or that of a different nationality has been glamorized or ignored for decades; the positive view is brotherly love. Our brothers standing together laughing and showing that love to one another. I hope that these images can tell a story and spark conversations about the harsh realities blacks in America have faced and make a positive change of action and how we all want to be viewed and treated.

The photographer Whitney Gamble has an interesting story:

I am originally from Savannah, GA and moved here 14 years ago after winning National American Miss Teen Georgia. I have had some success in acting since 2007 from a lead role in the feature film Down For Life starring Danny Glover, Laz Alonso, and Snoop Dogg, to HBOs Insecure, and Sexology with Shan Boodram to name a few. My passion is to be in front of the camera but also behind it. I LOVE to create. It lights a different fire and excitement in me that is not even comparable to reading another’s script. From catching my friends in their most beautiful moments, to making people laugh in 15 seconds, to YouTube series and skits, it is the most rewarding place to be behind a lens…but the crazy thing is….I am just getting started.
