BRIGHT & DARK SIDE of Stephanie Pineda

Advancing this week of Dark Series shot at stage B, David Martin Jr. brings us a contrast of both bright and dusky images of a gorgeous model Stephanie Pineda. David Martin Jr. was kind enough to share with us the story of his professional origin and the theme of this shoot:

“I moved to Los Angeles from the Bay Area to pursue my music career some time ago. Along my journey, I did many photo shoots myself, as an artist. I slowly fell in love with the art of photography. I can now see through both sides of the lens while bringing my experience and passion into every shot that I take.

This was Stephanie’s first time doing a professional photo shoot. The shoot was about capturing her elegance and being creative all at the same time. We had so much fun just as I like my shoots to be; fun, exciting and professional all the while executing the gameplan. I had a great team that day which really allows all this to happen. Thanks to a great night of shooting photos! ”

Stage B is a benchmark blackout stage designed to provide complete control over the strobe light. Painted all black and with shut off windows this stage preserves complete darkness for your photo and video projects. With an ever growing amount of day time bookings dedicated to capture best natural lighting conditions at our stages, it is often fair to justify a needlessness of strobe lights we offer. However, if the artist demands a complete control over luminous powers, then the blackout stage B comes into action. Photographer Elly and her team had visited our all-dark stage to take a series of portraits.

A little about Elly:

” Elly (Sarah Elly Johnson) is a Los Angeles based photographer hailing from Jacksonville, FL. She attended college for film and won several awards including Audience Choice for Best Film for the Jacksonville 48 hour project. She spent a summer on tour with Elixir on Mute taking video and photographs for a documentary. Though Elly enjoyed her travels immensely she realized her passion was not in moving pictures, but in the still ones. She has worked with such companies as Ampeg and Radial and has been published in Bass Player Magazine. Elly’s quirky sense of humor, ability to connect with clients, incredible eye for composition, and her inate sense for lighting make her one of the top up and coming photographers in Los Angeles. She says she is inspired by photographers, Ellen von Unwerth and Chris Craymer. Aside from photography, Elly loves fall, fashion, music and baking. Though she claims to be a terrible magician, her pictures are magic. Shooting with her is a unique, enjoyable, and unforgettable experience of which you are sure to walk away wanting more.”

Stage Art 3 is truly one of the pearls of our studio. Featuring thematic furniture of white and gold color and antique look that beautifully coincides with a rose wall covered completely in red and white flowers this stage brings both the uniqueness and versatility. As any of other 11 studios we provide this stage is equipped with three paper backdrops of white, black and grey color ready for your shoot. Art 3 has amazing natural lighting conditions. “Alexis Ren or Alexis René Glabach is international model, who got famous via tumblr. She was born on 23rd of November in 1996 and she is from United States, more specificaly from Santa Monica in California. Her modeling career started very early on. She just turned 13 when she got call from Brandy Melville, after he saw her in their store, after that she was freelance model for few months. After few months of freelancing, come a big change for her. She got her first official contract and it was with NMM ( Nous Model Management ) at very young age of 14.”

Stage D was chosen as a creative space for this session. Working with both natural light and strobes this stage provides the best lighting solutions in any instance. With lots of space to encompass, stage D gives the opportunity for creating different diverse looks for photo and video projects. What is Geoffrey’s philosophy on headshot and portrait photography and why is it given such importance?

How was your experience of using FD studio for your sessions?

“I love outdoor portrait work. It’s easy to find and manipulate ideal light, with great soft focus backgrounds that create the impression the talent is actually working on a show, on location, with a cinematic vibe and energy. Sometimes however, such as with the recent suffocating heat wave in Los Angeles, shooting on location simply isn’t practical. That’s when I turn to FD Studios. Their very competitive pricing means I don’t have to operate a high overhead studio, maintain studio equipment, or deal with any of the hassles of managing a brick and mortar location.

With the diverse range of shooting studios, backdrops and practical areas, I can shoot flash only, or merge natural light and flash, creating completely customized results for each individual’s needs.
