Stage Art 3 is truly one of the pearls of our studio. Featuring thematic furniture of white and gold color and antique look that beautifully coincides with a rose wall covered completely in red and white flowers this stage brings both the uniqueness and versatility. As any of other 11 studios we provide this stage is equipped with three paper backdrops of white, black and grey color ready for your shoot. Art 3 has amazing natural lighting conditions. However, if you require the help of the strobe lights, we have 3 of them installed and included in the hourly rate, thus making it as a very flexible creative space. Alexis Ren, the Instagram star has graced us with her visit for a fun photo shoot in stage D. Directed by accomplished photographer Zoey Grossman, this teen idol surely will bedazzle us. We have n0t gotten the final pictures yet so decided to share with you a few of behind the scenes shots.

“Alexis Ren or Alexis René Glabach is international model, who got famous via tumblr. She was born on 23rd of November in 1996 and she is from United States, more specificaly from Santa Monica in California. Her modeling career started very early on. She just turned 13 when she got call from Brandy Melville, after he saw her in their store, after that she was freelance model for few months. After few months of freelancing, come a big change for her. She got her first official contract and it was with NMM ( Nous Model Management ) at very young age of 14.”

Stage D was chosen as a creative space for this session. Working with both natural light and strobes this stage provides the best lighting solutions in any instance. With lots of space to encompass, stage D gives the opportunity for creating different diverse looks for photo and video projects. NOW is the time to perfect one of the crucial elements of your profile – your actor headshots. Alas, In Los Angeles, the city flooded with industry wannabe professionals you have to be lucky to find a real expert in portrait photography.

Here at FD, we have seen a good deal of headshot submissions and most of it were decent yet unexceptional with only a few worth the blog post. Yet, the celebrity photographer Geoffrey Donne has really impressed us with both astonishing and memorable quality of the photos he was kind enough to present.

“Geoffrey Donne an multi-award winning professional photographer, based in Los Angeles. Over a 25-year career he has worked professionally in many creative fields. As a writer, director, producer, and actor, his independent film projects have ranged from science fiction actioners to large-scale period films, as well as music videos, documentaries, and hard-hitting political thrillers. He have created corporate and commercial content, both for print, broadcast, as well as streaming content. He served as Director of Photography and camera operator on over 30 series, both network and cable, including the Emmy Award winning season of The Amazing Race for NBC. His still photography has appeared in numerous publications, catalogues, websites, and professional portfolios. He spent several years in media intelligence, serving most of the major and mini-major motion picture studios. He is a classically trained actor, with numerous stage and screen credits, (Army of Darkness, Hook) and a graduate of Northwestern University’s Theatre Arts / Radio Television and Film Intensive Program. Union associations include SAG, AEA, and AFM.”

What is Geoffrey’s philosophy on headshot and portrait photography and why is it given such importance?

How was your experience of using FD studio for your sessions?

“I love outdoor portrait work. It’s easy to find and manipulate ideal light, with great soft focus backgrounds that create the impression the talent is actually working on a show, on location, with a cinematic vibe and energy. Sometimes however, such as with the recent suffocating heat wave in Los Angeles, shooting on location simply isn’t practical. That’s when I turn to FD Studios. Their very competitive pricing means I don’t have to operate a high overhead studio, maintain studio equipment, or deal with any of the hassles of managing a brick and mortar location.

With the diverse range of shooting studios, backdrops and practical areas, I can shoot flash only, or merge natural light and flash, creating completely customized results for each individual’s needs. With some careful pre-planning, avoiding the hottest hours, even during heatwaves, the portable a/c and open air environment means comfortable, creative control, with consistently stunning results. Photographer Khiari Bakar accompanied by model Annabel Louise has recently visited our stage Art 2 for series of sexual and intimate, clean shots. Taking full benefit of the props available within the stage this due came up with very sensual, warm and reach images.

As a prologue to this session the story goes:

“Annabel and I planned this shoot while she was abroad in Paris — a conversation of mood boards and emojis. Originally an extensive outdoor shoot, I decided to dial it back and capture something more intimate and focused indoors. Art 2 was a photographers playground: abundant natural light, tasteful props and creative versatility. Depending on the wardrobe, the tone alternated between lounging in a luxury chill-pad and posed fashion editorials. Annabel, being a dancer, drew my attention to her calculated but beautiful movements. Capturing her form in just the right amount of light and shadow to tell a visual narrative of motion and expression became my objective for the series.”

Art 2, one of our clients’ most favorite stages, features a full rustic wood floor, as well as a platform that runs the entire length of the studio’s south side – flush with the windows. There is a wood staircase leading up to the platforms left side. The flooring is real wood throughout, and stained to a nice dark tone. Art 2 also features the same great equipment that adorns all of our studios – black, white, and gray photo backdrops as well as three strobes along with light modifiers. Photographer Deja Kreutzberg has many passions and artistic pursuits. One of it is kids’ photography. Being mommy herself Deja knows how to capture precious moments of early parenthood that will be cherished for many years to come. This time the photographer had a session dedicated to a clothing line called “Sol Tide Kids” at FD. Our studio has seen all sorts of fashion, e-commerce and life sessions. Yet, truth be told, the stage Art 4 has never before hosted such cute and adorable models! So what is “Sol Tide Kids” ? And how was the experience of shooting in our studio?

“Sol Tide Kids is a unisex children’s clothing line inspired by the effortless California lifestyle. The collection consists of quality, comfortable basics with graphics that represent California’s magical beach towns, desert wild lands and adventurous mountaintops. Sol Tide embodies children’s fun loving spirits and makes dressing easy for mommy and baby! FD Photo Studio and [is] one of the most amazing spaces I have ever seen! We shot in the studio Art 4 which was flooded with natural light, painted in pure white and had everything a photographer could want or need at my fingertips.”

“I am a photographer based in Los Angeles by way of Massachusetts, Florida, Virginia and my home state, Tennessee. I first picked up a camera when I was 15 years old. It was my uncle’s camera and it literally changed my life. I knew in that instant, capturing moments in time would become a passion of mine. My interests in photography are editorial, fashion, portrait and sports. My style is simple and bold with a unique perspective. Whether it’s a lens choice, a lighting choice, or an angle choice, I always try and find something different within every photograph I take. A well constructed photograph will always tell a story.
