Jazz Anderson’s music video shoot “Circles”

Jazz Anderson is a female artist/rapper based out of Houston and LA. For her upcoming video “Circles” shot by notable LA director Donté, the team used Studio Art 2 for a dancing and beauty silhouette shot.

Jazz Andrson tells us:

“We incorporated the wide windows that looked out into the city life, with me as a shadow. Being that the song is about me somewhat losing and trying to find myself in a relationship at the same time, the silhouette was important so that I was kept in the shadows, while the light from outside of the wide windows shined in on me. The studio was clean and included great additional equipment, props and lighting. Definitely somewhere I would shoot again! “

Ideas On Matching Model’s Style with Lighting

Another great episode of “OnSet” by Adorama TV with Daniel Norton shows how subtle stylistic details might improve the overall composition of the photograph. Daniel states “when you want to work with a certain concept, sometimes it is fun to incorporate style from that concept.”

In this episode Daniel, influenced by 70s style look of the model, uses several techniques used back in those days.

Equipment

Daniel’s setup is simple – 2 strobe lights, one with soft box, another with bare 7-inch reflector, hit the model from above.

The lens is 70-200mm zoom.

The prop light – fluorescent looking led tubes – play as a fill light in composition, as well as a part of artistic element.

Technique

Daniel starts with fast shutter speed 1/200 to slowly introduce the light into the frame. He also wants to capture long exposure effect by decreasing the shutter down to 1/4, and applying few cool tricks.

First trick, the obvious one, is to have model wave LED bulbs around to paint the well known flare on the long exposure photograph.

Second trick is to shake the camera while capturing the photo. Well known in 70s, this technique creates a perfect stylistic match with model’s look, adding more authenticity to the photo.

Griselda Violante’s Lingerie Photoshoot

Gorgeous Griselda Violante has paid us a visit to Art 1 studio for series of provocative, sexy, lingerie photographs. Her photographer Steve Mongare captured the model in soft natural light, positioning her in the away from direct sun and thus taking advantage of soft ambience the shade created.

Zuz @the_zuz: Majority of my shots are outdoors, ’cause light is just more accessible, but I think my heart will always stay with the indoor. I love studio just because it gives me a full control with light, and no time limit. I don’t have to depend on the sunset or sunrise, or any other weather conditions. I can basically do whatever I want.

Arthur ABM Photography: I can make anything happen anywhere, whether it’s indoors or outdoors. My studio, everyone always thinks I use strobe light, actually, for my head shots, especially when I have a backdrop, but I just use natural light. You know, it’s just a natural light studio. Outdoors, I excel a lot when I shoot outdoors sometimes. I just will grab a reflector, grab the person, and rock on, you know? Put them in front of, you know, something where it’s lit nicely, and then boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, and we’ve got some shots.

Mois @moisnomois: Mostly I shoot indoors, since I do a lot of video work. If it’s outdoors, gotta be some really dope spot.

Mila Zvereva @mila_zvereva: Regardless of the location, I always like the challenge to make my models look unforgettable in any setting I’m presented with. I have no preference to work indoors or outside.

Stage UPGRADE: Hill 4 gets a fancy pattern curtain!

Jungle Themed photo Studio available for rental in Los Angeles

Faster than Musk’s FalconX, our stage Hill 4 has reached cosmic awesomeness with overwhelming amount of props for you to play with! There are THREE unique settings – Tropical “Jungle” leaf wall, white stained “staircase to heaven” section, and orange “desert” corner with woven chairs, and mosaic textured floor. Two latter sections has new additions/modifications:

This section now has a cool, white, see through pattern curtain that is hung perpendicular to West facing windows, thus creating amazingly beautiful light patterns in the afternoon!

This section had two walls painted orange for that sandy, desert-ish feel. We decided to improve the texture of walls even further by making it more vivid and more “cracked”.

Thus leafy section is floor-to-ceiling high, with additional two big planters with trees. Our Vespa-style blue scooter is nicely parked in the center, waiting for your ride.
