Actress Genesis Rodriguez recently shot an exclusive photoshoot with Numero Netherlands at FD Photo Studio Los Angeles. The shoot happened in a photo studio with concrete wall, rusty corner, and RGB futuristic silver wall in Los Angeles Hill 8.

About Genesis Rodriguez

Genesis Rodriguez is best known for her role as Captain Josephina Carillo in Paramount+’s Lioness alongside Zoe Saldaña, Nicole Kidman, and Morgan Freeman. She also starred as Sloane Hargreeves in Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy and will join the cast of The Night Agent for its third season. The shoot at FD Photo Studio captured Rodriguez’s style and range for this feature.

From Telenovelas to Hollywood

Rodriguez started her career in telenovelas, training across comedy, drama, and action. That background prepared her for the jump to major Hollywood productions. In the Numero Netherlands interview, Rodriguez talked about how working in novelas helped her move between different types of roles.

Her role as Captain Carillo in Lioness was the most challenging of her career. The character required physical and mental stamina Rodriguez didn’t know she had. Before Lioness, she played Sloane Hargreeves in The Umbrella Academy. Sloane was sweet and shy, living in the shadows of her family. Captain Carillo is a fierce military leader whose only weakness is her family. The contrast between these characters shows Rodriguez’s range.

Photo Studio With Concrete Wall in Los Angeles Hill 8

The Genesis Rodriguez photoshoot took place in Hill 8 at FD Photo Studio Los Angeles. This 760-square-foot space measures 36 feet long by 21 feet wide with 10-foot ceilings. The studio has a 1967 motorcycle, wooden barn doors, wine barrels, and an oversized fan. Southeast-facing windows give warm morning light that gets soft and diffused in the afternoon.

The studio includes three Alien Bees B800 strobe lights with wireless triggers, C-stands, sandbags, V-flats, light modifiers and more. A makeup station with dimmable lights, clothing rack, and full-body mirror can be found inside the studio. Paper backdrops are available for an additional price. A freight elevator is right across the hall from the studio door (request in advance).
