Musician Artemas for Basic Magazine at FD Photo Studio Los Angeles

You can spend hours searching for the right studio for an editorial shoot in Los Angeles. The ideal space needs to match the creative brief, capture the right energy for the story, and work well for production team.

Sometimes, a creatives want a large studio with a cyc wall so they can build their own set. That gives you complete control, but it also eats up a lot of time and resources. Choose a studio with a cyc wall for rent in LA.

On the other hand, many productions prefer a space that already has the right texture, props, and mood built in. That way, they can spend less time on set design and more time shooting.

That’s exactly what the BASIC Magazine team was looking for when they rented our large Metal Hangar studio for the Artemas editorial shot by Dylan Perlot.

Who Is Artemas?

Artemas is an English singer, songwriter, and record producer from Oxfordshire. His 2024 single “i like the way you kiss me” hit number one across Europe and cracked the top 15 in the US. His fourth mixtape LOVERCORE followed in October 2025, a 14-track synthpop record built around intense feelings. The latest single, “you and i could never be friends,” is already out.

He has been releasing music obsessively for seven years. That consistency is the strategy. In the February 2026 BASIC Magazine interview, he described his creative process like an Ouija board: hands off, stop overthinking, just let it move. That approach shows up in his visuals too. When something feels right, he goes with it.

The BASIC Magazine Shoot at FD Photo Studio

The editorial ran in BASIC Magazine in February 2026. Photographer Dylan Perlot shot the full story at the Metal Garage. The full production crew included stylist Adrian Joseph, groomer Ayae Yamamoto for Exclusive Artists and production coordinator Cassidy Cocke.

The images were published alongside a full interview with Artemas, covering his Oxfordshire upbringing, the process behind LOVERCORE, and the moment “i like the way you kiss me” blew up mid-flight over the Pacific. You can read the full piece at BASIC Magazine. The raw industrial look of the Metal Garage was exactly right for this editorial.
