Photographer Bekah Wriedt had undertaken a exciting task for her project – to create a spirit of Unity amongst human beings. Inspired by Martha Upper, Bekah took her poem and visualized it through the images.
“Unity
There is nothing more beautiful and ideal than a harmonious community. A sound of different notes that play separate pitches for a common tone. A clash of tunes and disturbance that resolve for an interval of melody.
The absence of unity is a void that many people feel no need to fill. Why change what has been the same generation after generation?
The constant separation and segregation is creating a mental distrust among one another. Often unknowingly, we have caused a cycle of judgment and stereotypes. We stick with who we know and where we are comfortable.
Race, appearance, religion, and backgrounds make us who we are. They do not make us monsters who are incapable of loving someone unlike us. We must strip ourselves of the lies that we have been impounded with time and time again.
When we finally see that we are truly one kind, one human race put here together to create something beautiful, then we may finally be able to understand unity.
Instead of fighting one another, let us fight for a common cause.
The voices of an army can scream with determination to finally be heard. We are the voices of that army.
We have flown out our white doves holding olive branches in their mouths to show that we are at peace. We are one. No amount of variance can keep us from generating one solid voice that speaks for truth.
Forget ethnicities, socioeconomics, and differences, and embrace love, passion, and each other.
