Shear Fashion Salon + Michelle Nicole Photography

conjoined their HMU skills with the photographer Michelle Nicole to shoot a ballet dancer in our stage Art 2. Adorned by gracious moves their fine work shines through the picture with elegance and gleam. There is a backstory to this collaboration:

“Back in June 2016, Rochelle and Phoebe Dingman from Shear Fashion Salon and Michelle Nicole Ng from Michelle Nicole Photography  traveled from the Bay Area, California to collaborate on a photoshoot at FD Studio’s Art 2 room. For the past six years, they have been working together on miscellaneous nail and beauty projects, entered in competitions, and have been featured in magazines such as Nails Magazine and Nail Pro. For years, they have been planning to photograph their cousin, Sammy, a ballet dancer who attends the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Sammy is working towards becoming a professional ballet dancer and has performed in the Nutcracker for two years and the Spring Ballet at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. The story behind this session was to photograph a ballerina and create a nail design to theme a ballerina. We loved FD Studio’s natural light and rustic warehouse windowsills, that was exactly the look we were going for. With Shear Fashion Salon to do makeup, hair, and nails, and Michelle Nicole Photography to create the imagery, we used FD Studios to execute our vision. This image below was placed as top 10 for the 2017 Nails Magazine cover.”

Art 2, one of our clients’ most favorite stages, features a full rustic wood floor, as well as a platform that runs the entire length of the studio’s south side – flush with the windows. There is a wood staircase leading up to the platforms left side. The flooring is real wood throughout, and stained to a nice dark tone. Art 2 also features the same great equipment that adorns all of our studios – black, white, and gray photo backdrops as well as three strobes along with light modifiers.
