Rain Photography Studios for Rent in New York

Getting a rain shot right is harder than it looks. You need controlled water flow, a background that holds up wet, and lighting that works with falling water. Shooting outside in New York means unpredictable weather, no lighting control, and permits. FD Photo Studio has two rain studios in Brooklyn that solve all of that, and they are built differently enough that the one you choose will shape what your photos look like.

Why You Should Rent A Rain Studio?

Rain on location sounds great until you’re dealing with city permits, cold temperatures, uneven pavement, and zero control over the light. Even on a planned shoot day, real rain doesn’t cooperate. You can’t choose the direction, the intensity, or when it stops.

A dedicated rain studio gives you all of that. You pick the rain mode, set the lights, your model stays warm between takes because high-efficiency water and air heaters keep the space comfortable. The floor is built for shooting with water. No permits. No weather surprises. Just you and the shot.

Rain Room Photo Studio with RGB Lights in Brooklyn

For focused portrait and editorial rain work, the Rain Room Metro 4 is the go-to. It has several rain options so you can control the intensity and direction of the water to match your shot.

This 920-square-foot studio has a black tile wall, a black block wall, a park bench, and a set of props ready for rain shoots. The pre-installed RGB lights and 2 GVM video lights are included at no extra charge. No other lights or softboxes are in this studio. If you want a more elaborate lighting setup, bring your own or check the equipment list for rentable options.

Rain Room Metro 4 also has a movable, fillable bathtub.

Large Black Cyc Wall Rain Studio in Brooklyn

If you need more room, or want a car or bike in the same frame as the rain, the Black Cyc Wall Rain Studio Metro 5 is the right call. It also has four rain modes, giving you the same water control.

At 1,820 square feet, Black Cyc Wall Rain Studio Metro 5 is nearly double the size of Rain Room Metro 4. The large black corner cyc wall gives you a clean infinity look. The drive-in gate at ground level gives you car and bike access. The ceiling is 8 ft high.

This studio also has a movable, fillable bathtub.

RGB lights are fully controllable. Two 150W RGB video lights are available at $35 each per booking and are not included. Check the equipment list for everything else available to rent.

Which Studio Is Right for Your Shoot?

Rent the Rain Room Metro 4 if you’re doing portrait work, editorial, or anything where a tight, moody black-tile environment is the look. The props, the park bench, and the bathtub give you multiple setups in a compact space. The included video lights give you a starting point without renting anything extra.
