Colleagues, clients, and friends,
It is with great pride and humble thanks that we announce that FD Photo Studio will be expanding its unique studio rental activity to New York City.
We were the first to offer high-quality yet affordable hourly studio rental services with included professional equipment in Los Angeles, and your support allowed us to expand into the enterprise you’ve come to rely on today. Now, we plan to bring this creative hub to the New York market where we can continue to create exciting studio spaces!
We’re occupying a special time in the evolution of photo studios – and the photography community in general. Technological advancements, easier booking processes and new ways of packaging time and services are constantly coming over the horizon, and we want to thank you for being forward-thinking enough to give us a shot. You’re pioneers, and we’re looking forward to making the next leg of the journey with you. Together, we led the way in Los Angeles. We’re ready to take on the Big Apple.
Before FD Photo Studio, access to professional studio space was sharply limited. It took a good deal of capital to rent out a studio a day at a time – a half day, if you were lucky. We tightened that innovative concept and offered hourly rates to give everyone a chance to be a part of a quality photo studio production. Our community of photographers and artists proved that big upfront money wasn’t the make or break for great productions. We made our photography studio your photography studio, and we’re immensely proud of what you’ve done with it.
That’s the same kind of on-demand service that consumers have come to expect, really. The old logistics are fading away. If you’ve taken an Uber, had a Netflix-and-chill session, or snagged something on eBay in the last 12 months, you’ll know what I mean. The power is returning to the people, and we’re glad to be a part of it.
We’ve found a professional photo studio niche in an age when almost everyone is equipped with a smartphone camera at all times. We’re not threatened by new paradigms. We’ve found a way to make those paradigms work for us and our photographer clients. It’s exciting, really. There’s an old Chinese saying that goes, “May you live in interesting times.” It’s supposed to be a curse. We see it as a blessing. These are interesting times, and your interest in FD Studio has taken us from an idea to a whole other campus on the other side of the country, to the exciting New-York City.
We really cannot thank you enough, because it is really all about you. We hope that with our help, you’ll be able to make your art spring to life. We hope everyone with a vision gets to see it in living color without having to pay an arm and a leg. That’s the new, affordable vision for the industry. In today’s market, an artist should not be constrained by his or her ability to block out an entire studio for extravagant amounts of time. He or she should be able to get in and get their work out with as little hassle as possible – and without taking out a second mortgage.
We’ve accomplished this in the Los Angeles market. We’ve proven that a client-driven studio rental can succeed on the West Coast. And we’re excited to see what FD Photo Studio and New York City can accomplish together.
To that end, our studios in the new Long Island City campus will be New York riffs on the studios you’ve come to love at our flagship location. We’re hoping our studios really capture the identity of the city and the diverse tapestry of artists within it. You’ll find elements both familiar and totally unique to New York – just like the city itself. You’ll get mama’s homemade spaghetti gravy and deconstructed fine dining all on the same plate. You’ll get a comfy pair of worn-out jeans and absolute haute couture. That’s what it means to be New York City, and that’s what it means to be FD Photo Studio.
We’ve launched a slate of classes and workshops to help you reach your full artistic potential. That offering is going to triple. Keep a lookout here and on our Instagram at @FDPhotoStudio for upcoming social mixers, concerts, and learning opportunities. We’re serious about giving you all the tools you need to make your dreams pop. We succeed when you succeed. And given what we’ve seen so far in Los Angeles, we expect to make it big in the big city.
So, calling all artists, photographers, and visual entrepreneurs – FD Photo Studio is coming to New York City. Keep our Long Island City campus in mind for all your hourly studio rental needs. We promise to give you the same kind of affordable experience we developed, with your help, in Los Angeles, and all with a fresh New York tang.
See you there.
