Father’s Day and Family Portrait Studios in Los Angeles

Father’s Day this year is Sunday, June 21st. Most dads spend the year behind the camera, not in front of it. Here’s your chance to change that. A family portrait shoot is one of the few gifts that just gets better with time. The studio you choose is also an important factor; your choice should include adequate space for all family members, a set that resembles a home and will work well for both parents and children. FD Photo Studio has many studios in Downtown Los Angeles that fit exactly that.

Family Portrait Studios in Downtown Los Angeles

Each studio has a different look. Pick the one that fits the vibe you’re looking for. All studios are 100% private with self-check-in. No insurance or permits needed, and rentals start at 1 hour.

Most of the studios come with included strobe lights, light modifiers, and grip equipment. Check the FD equipment list for all available and rentable items at each.

French Manor Apartment Studio (LA Loft 3)

For a family portrait that feels like home, the French Manor Studio (LA Loft 3) is a go-to. It’s an 830-square-foot apartment-style studio with multiple zones: a kitchen with vintage shelving and appliances, a dining area with a large wooden table, a bedroom with a romantic white bed and an atelier corner. Vintage wooden furniture, a prop fireplace, and French-style decor make it easy to shoot four or five completely different setups without moving locations.

Large windows face the Downtown LA skyline and bring in natural light throughout the day. Dad and the kids by the fireplace, the whole family around the dining table, a relaxed bedroom portrait: you can cover all three without ever breaking down a set. Two LED panels with light stands are included, along with a makeup station with mirror and seating, a portable speaker, and free WiFi. Strobes, c-stands, and backdrops are not available at this location.

Man Cave Studio (LA Loft 4)

Man cave photo studio with a pool table, leather furniture, and a 16.5 ft wide RGB screen in Downtown Los Angeles.

Not every dad wants a French-style family portrait. For something with more edge, the Man Cave Studio (LA Loft 4) is the right pick. It’s a 900-square-foot studio with a pool table, leather chairs and couches, blackout curtains for full light control, and a 16.5 ft wide by 8.5 ft high digital RGB screen. You can display any photo, video, or custom graphic on the screen using the in-studio Windows laptop. Two LED panels with light stands are included, along with a makeup station with mirror and seating, a portable speaker, and free WiFi. Strobes, c-stands, and backdrops are not available at this location.

You can photograph dad and the kids around the pool table, or a group portrait in front of a custom graphic glowing on the screen. It’s a cinematic look that stands out from the usual family portrait. Just note: bring a Windows-compatible hard drive if you want to use your own files.
