Christine only managed to get her GED. The personal counselors at her school did not take an interest in her plight and did nothing to help her figure out a way to fund her college aspirations. So she dropped out of school. Another reason that she had dropped out of school was that she was constantly being bullied by her peers and also being harassed by the very people that were supposed to protect her. None among her teachers, counselors, and all of the so-called “adults” in her life could do anything to defend her from the world. Having been brought up as an immigrant, life was as hard as it could get. The one person she could have looked up for support – her father – was never present while she was growing up.
