Blackout Car Photo Studio With RGB Tunnel in Brooklyn, New York

Car paint reflects everything around it. Shoot outside in New York and you get buildings, cabs, and scaffolding in every chrome surface. Street parking also means pedestrians, uneven light, and zero control over your background. A blackout studio fixes that. FD Photo Studio’s RGB Tunnel and Walls Studio Metro 1 in Brooklyn gives you a fully dark, fully controllable space built for cars, bikes, and creative shoots.

Why Car Photographers Choose a Blackout Studio

Outside, you cannot control what hits the car. Light changes, reflections change, and golden hour gives you about 20 minutes before it is gone. Inside a blackout studio, every light source is one you put there. Nothing else gets in.

RGB light takes that further. Instead of plain strobes, you get color. Deep blue on a silver hood. Red wrapping a matte black car. A split where one side goes warm and the other goes cold. The car reflects exactly what you set the walls to, and that is it.

RGB Tunnel and Walls Studio: Everything Inside

The RGB Tunnel and Walls Studio Metro 1 is located at 1003 Metropolitan Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11211. It is 1,250 square feet space with 13 to 14-foot ceilings. Cars and bikes drive straight in through a ground-level loading gate.

The RGB walls run along the full studio. Color, intensity, and effect are all adjustable from the control panel. The RGB tunnel is a separate setup: pull the car or bike to the entrance, shoot straight through, and the tunnel frames the whole shot in color on every side. It is one of the most-used setups in the space for both car and music video work.

A red sports bike comes with every rental. It is already on its stand. Want to shoot the car and the bike together? Both fit.

A makeup stations with a mirror and seating are included, along with a black leather sofa, a sound system, and free WiFi. Paper backdrops are available for an additional price: $29.99 for up to 6 feet, $59.99 for more than 6 feet, and $75 for a full 36-foot roll.

Three flash units, light modifiers, wireless triggers, c-stands, sandbags, and v-flats are included. Continuous lighting is available for rent. No need to bring your own grip. The FD equipment list covers everything included and everything available to rent.

The studio is 100% private. No permits or insurance needed. Bookings are self-check-in.

What You Can Shoot Here

Cars

This is the obvious one. The RGB walls wrap a full-size car in controllable color. You can do a clean, dramatic editorial with deep blacks and a single color wash, or go full neon for a lifestyle campaign. The loading gate means getting the car in takes a few minutes, not half the shoot.

For exterior detail shots, the blackout environment lets you control exactly what reflects off the paint, glass, and chrome. No sky, no street, no random light source you did not put there.

Bikes and Motorcycles

The included red sports bike is ready to shoot from the moment you walk in. Park it in front of the RGB tunnel for a full-color wrap effect, or use the walls for side lighting. If you are shooting a rider, the studio has enough room to work around the bike comfortably. The dark background keeps the focus where it belongs.

Music Videos and Dance Videos

The RGB walls do a lot of work here. Full-color environments, shifting tones, and a completely blackout space are all things music video directors look for. You get the visual drama without needing to rent a large production stage or coordinate a location permit in the city.

Rock band OUTLIER filmed their single “CROWN” here, using the RGB tunnel and blackout walls as the backdrop. Read the full behind-the-scenes in the OUTLIER “CROWN” blog post.

Dance videos work well in the space too. The 1,250 square feet gives enough floor room for movement, and the RGB lighting creates a controlled, distinct look that holds up across a full video.

Creative and Portrait Shoots Without Vehicles

Not every shoot at this studio involves a car. The RGB tunnel and walls work just as well for portrait work, conceptual shoots, or fashion editorials where the look calls for colored light and a dark background. Photographers use the tunnel as a framing device, with the subject at one end and the color wrapping the frame. The two makeup stations mean talent can get ready in the studio without needing a separate holding space.
