Apartment Photo Studio with Kitchen and Living Room in New York

Shooting in someone’s actual apartment means working around their furniture, their schedule, and their mess. But if you’re shooting lifestyle content, family photos, food campaigns, or holiday portraits, the space needs to do some of the work for you, and that means an actual kitchen, a living room setup, and beautiful light that works all day. Loft with Kitchen Studio in Astoria, NY, is for any photographer or content creator who wants exactly that.

Loft with Kitchen in NY

This photo studio is located at 35-58 37th St, 3rd Floor, Astoria, NY 11106. It has 1,040 square feet, white brick walls, hardwood flooring, and west-facing windows. In the morning, has soft, indirect lighting, making it easy to work with. By the afternoon, direct sunlight shines through the west-facing windows, creating beautifully warm lighting patterns on the hardwood floor.

The prop kitchen is designed with a very clean and minimalistic feel, including a cabinet, countertop, and kitchen appliances. However, because of the clean, minimalistic design, the kitchen looks very realistic. This space is perfect to film morning routines, food styling, recipe content, product campaigns, or anything else requiring a realistic home kitchen.

The living room area has a brown leather sofa, a dark blue accent wall, decorative lighting, and a prop chimney. Perfect for lounging shots.

There is also a silver and gold shimmer wall, which gives you a clean, festive background. Think of a holiday campaign or party backdrop.

Most apartment studios give you ONE look, while Astoria 5 provides multiple looks during the same studio rental.

For models and MUAH artists, there is a makeup station with a vanity mirror. It’s easy to touch up hair and makeup without leaving the studio. A clothing rack and steamer are also available to keep the shoot wardrobe neat. Changing areas are provided in each studio.

Photographers can benefit from three flash units, wireless triggers, C-stands, v-flats, a sound system, and free WiFi, all of which are included with every rental. Additional continuous lighting is available for rent. Seamless paper backdrops are available at $29.99 for up to 6 feet on the floor, $59.99 for more than 6 feet, or $75 for a full 36-foot roll. No need to carry a bunch of personal equipment – use what is already at the studio. Check the equipment list for all rentable and included items.

Just note: Astoria 5 is a self-check-in studio. There’s no staff at the front desk during your booking. If you need the freight elevator, notify the studio at least 24 hours in advance, as last-minute requests may not guarantee availability.

What You Can Shoot Here

There’s a big difference between a studio that CAN accommodate lifestyle content and one that was purpose-built for it. Because Astoria 5 has distinct zones, you can move from scene to scene during a full shoot without having to make the same backdrop do too much work.

For lifestyle and brand content, the kitchen counter with the west-facing natural light and the white brick backdrop is a natural setup for morning routine videos, skincare campaigns, home brand shoots, and product photography. You can also move to the leather couch and chimney area for a completely different look in the same hour.

Fashion photographers use the dark blue accent wall and hardwood floors for portrait work and lookbooks that need to feel like a real New York apartment, not a set. In addition, the shimmery silver/gold accent wall works perfectly for beauty close-ups, jewelry campaigns, or editorial shoots to create a shimmery reflection behind the subject.

Family portrait photographers book this studio because the living room setup, with the couch, the chimney, and the warm light from the fixtures, looks and feels like someone’s home. That’s actually what families want when they’re booking a studio that doesn’t feel like a “photo shoot location.”

Holiday shoots during the Christmas season. Every year, FD Photo Studio sets up a decorated Christmas tree in Astoria 5, right in the living room area next to the leather couch and the chimney. It’s one of those setups where you really don’t need to add much: the tree, the couch, and the warm light together already look like Christmas morning. See the full breakdown of the holiday setups in the photo studio with the Christmas tree in the New York guide.
